TINO

Tino is a big gold neutered eight year old boy who is sadly being rehomed due to the death of his owner. He is currently in the care of our partner boarding kennels, missing his owner and needing someone to bond to.
Tino is a loving affectionate boy who enjoys attention from people he knows. He is typically guardy and vocal when meeting visitors in the home but settles once they are in and sat down.
Tino is housetrained and crate trained. He can be left for up to five hours in his crate. He walks well on a gencon lead but needs recall training. He can be anxious of other dogs and joggers/people on bikes when out and may react if they get too close. Advice and support on how to help him overcome his fears will be provided by SWDR.
Tino loves to play with toys or be digging on the beach and enjoys playing in water and retrieving balls from it but does not swim, preferring to paddle.
Tino has lived with a teenager but is wary of younger children and cats. He would prefer an adult only home or one with teenagers. A rural home with a secure garden and access to a secure field where his recall can be worked on would be ideal.
Tino is a lovely boy who desperately needs a new owner to bond to. He will make a loving companion in the right home.

BODHI

RESERVED

Bodhi is a faded brown boy who is 8 years old. Although much loved by his owners they have made the difficult decision to rehome him as they are no longer able to meet his needs. Bodhi is an active boy who is very affectionate towards people he knows but lacks confidence and is easily stressed. He requires a calm household with experienced owners who can provide him with a stable environment and the time, love and understanding he needs. He has had some basic training and is willing to learn. He will excel in a home that provides him with the mental stimulation he requires.

Bohdi is not crate trained but is house trained and can be left for 4-5 hours. He is not destructive in the house but is food orientated and will steal food or raid the bin if accessible. He will also beg when humans are eating.

Bohdi loves his ball and playing fetch in his garden or secure field. He can be reactive to strangers and dogs he doesn't know, we will give advice and support with this if required.

Bohdi will be a fabulous companion if given the time, understanding and training he requires to thrive.

BOURBON

RESERVED

Bourbon is a neutered brown two and a half year old boy who is being rehomed due to his owner's family circumstances changing and them being unable to give him the time and attention he needs. He is currently in our partner kennels until a new home can be found for him.

He is housetrained and sleeps in a crate at night. He is used to being left in the crate for short periods during the day. He walks well on a head collar when over his initial excitement and has a good recall. He can be a little anxious when passing big vehicles but is fine with cars.

Bourbon is an energetic and affectionate boy. He finds it difficult to settle and can be demanding of attention and unruly at times. He requires a home that can give him the mental stimulation and boundaries he needs to thrive. He has had little training and would benefit from attending classes. He would enjoy participating in some sort of dog sport.

He is sociable with people and other dogs but can become excitable and bouncy around them. He is used to children visiting and may be rehomed with older children who are used to living with dogs who jump up when excited. He could also be rehomed with a calm dog.

Bourbon can be anxious when at the groomers and vets. He will need to be groomed by a groomer who is knowledgeable and empathetic to the breed.

Bourbon is a young dog with a lot to offer. He is looking for an active home with the time to meet his mental and physical needs and provide him with the loving boundaries he requires to build his confidence and allow him to reach his full potential. He would love a job to do such as agility, hoopers, gundog, rally, cannicross …

TURCO

NOW REHOMED

Turco is a neutered brown eight year old boy who is being rehomed due to his owners relocating abroad and being unable to take him.
Turco is a loving affectionate boy who enjoys attention from people he knows. He is typically guardy and vocal when meeting visitors in the home, jumping up and barking when they move but is able to settle and relax quickly when visitors are sitting down. He is quite easily stressed and needs calm understanding owners who can provide routines and boundaries to increase his confidence.
Turco is housetrained and sleeps in a bed at night. He can be left for short periods but does not enjoy being separated from his owners. He walks well on a lead but his recall is poor when offlead and he will run off. He is fearful of other dogs and people when out and will react with barking and lunging. His new owners will be required to work with a behaviourist on these issues and SWDR will provide support for this.
Turco is used to being groomed at the groomers and is tolerant of being handled. He travels well in a car. He has some basic training and is eager to please. He doesn’t show much interest in toys but is very foody and would be happy to learn some new tricks and behaviours if rewarded with treats. He does have some allergies which are managed by diet and don’t cause him any problems if fed Purina Hypo.
Turco will make a great companion if his new owner is committed to working on building his confidence and alleviating his stress around strange dogs and people.
Turco’s owners are leaving the country at the end of February and are unable to take him with them. SWDR will be looking for a foster home for him if his new home has not been found.

PEDRO

NOW REHOMED

Pedro is an entire 3 year old black and tan boy who is being re-homed with the full support of his breeders.

Pedro is a lively & boisterous SWD who needs an active home with understanding owners who are able to continue his training and realise his full potential. He is a typically guardy and vocal boy when meeting strangers, but is very affectionate with people he knows. His new owners will need to provide the loving boundaries and routine he requires to thrive.

Pedro missed out on valuable socialisation and training as a youngster and his new owners will be required to invest time and commitment to address this. He does react when he sees strange dogs and people when outon walks, he also finds visitors to the home over stimulating, which can cause lunging and barking. He tends to be better on lead than off in these situations. He will need managing when there are visitors in the home, he is crate trained and this is a safe space for him.

Pedro finds it stressful around children and will need an adult only home. He is strong willed and will growl when asked to do something he doesn't want to but is very biddable once his lead is clipped on. His new owners must be prepared to work with a behaviourist to help address his needs.

Pedro has lived happily with other SWDs and can be re-homed with another dog, he will also be quite happy as an only dog as he bonds well with people he knows and trusts.

Pedro has lots of potential, he loves playing ball & is very treat orientated. He would be very happy to try some canine activities such as Agility, Rally, Parkour etc.

He will make a wonderful companion to the right person. Could you be that person?

FRANCO

NOW REHOMED

Franco is a 3 year old neutered black dog who is looking for a new home as although he is much loved, his owners have come to realise they cannot provide him with the time and attention he needs.  He currently lives in a busy household where he does not have enough outlets for his energy levels causing him some frustration.  Franco is a very cuddly dog who loves his family.  He  can be anxious when new people visit the house and will bark unless he can hold his ball as a displacement activity.  He is friendly and affectionate once he has got to know the person.  Franco is only walked on lead and can bark and lunge at people to manage his anxiety.  A behaviourist assessment suggests that in the right environment, with time, space and daily commitment this behaviour can be overcome.  SWDR will provide behaviourist support with this issue.  Franco is generally good with other dogs and would maybe benefit from living with an older, calm dog.  Although he has lived with children and enjoys their company it is felt that he would be happier in a quieter adult only home.  He is fully housetrained and is happy to be left alone at home for up to 4 hours.  He would love a home with adults that have the time to give him the physical and mental stimulation he needs.  He is a young, energetic dog who will thrive in a rural environment with owners prepared to work with him and maybe participate in activities such as Agility, Rally, Hoopers etc.

Mickey

NOW REHOMED

Mickey is a nearly 3 years old, neutered faded brown boy. He is a friendly boy, affectionate and playful with adults he knows. He enjoys walks, swimming, climbing, catch, scent work, showers, tummy tickles and playing with balls. He can become obsessive with ball playing and this is best kept to the garden or walks.

Mickey has good basic training but this can be overtaken by excitement or his ball obsessio. He is housetrained, sleeps in his bed at night and can be left for short periods. Mickey is a very energetic, intelligent boy who does not really have an “Off switch” and finds it difficult to settle in the house, especially if balls are around. He is very reactive to noise and can bark if he hears other dogs, cars, neighbours voices etc. He will guard the front door if visitors arrive and he is allowed to get there before his owner. His new owners will need to work on managing these behaviours and finding more desirable alternatives. They must be prepared and able to continue his training, SWDR will support them in this.

Mickey enjoys his walks, loves water and will happily play in streams or the sea. He needs some training to walk on lead without pulling as this can be an issue, particularly at the beginning of a walk. He is very focused when a ball is in play and doesn’t show any interest in other dogs, even when approached.

He will be happier as an only dog as he has bullied other dogs in his home. He prefers a home without children as he has little to no experience of them and is wary. Mickey is a dog who really needs a job to do and would be happiest in a home willing to do some work with him, for example scent work, man trailing, waterworks or agility.

He will be rehome to a quiet, settled, adult home with owners committed to enable him to fulfill his potential. Given this opportunity he will provide his new owners with a lot of fun and affection.

Rio

NOW REHOMED

Rio is a 6 year old faded brown neutered bitch who is looking
for a new home after changes to her family circumstances. She is fully housetrained and is used to a crate although in re- cent years has slept in her bed in the living room at night. She has been clicker trained and knows a variety of cues and enjoys
long walks and searching for hidden toys or treats. She loves toys and exhibits typical SWD behaviour of making her presence known when someone is to come to the front door and in the house but then looks for something to carry in her mouth to greet people. If she can't find a toy a shoe will
do! Rio is reactive to other dogs both on and off a lead and needs to live as a single dog. When walk-
ing in areas away from other dogs she walks well both on and off the lead and has a good recall.
Although she has lived with a cat she is not cat friendly and will chase them. Rio is an affectionate girl who loves people, welcomes them into her home, albeit noisily, and has never had any negative behaviour towards them. However she is not happy around babies
or young children and will not be rehomed to families with them. Rio has had a history of problems with allergies. These are now managed with a diet of a propri- etary dog food, Pooch and Mutts calming kibble and antihistamines when needed in the sum-
mer. She loves the Pooch and Mutt calming treats. Rio is looking for a new family who live in a rural area where they can take her on walks away from other dogs while they work with her on her reactivity. Although she can be left for up to four hours at a time she would like an active family who have time to spend with her. She would appreciate a quiet home as she doesn't like loud noises. She doesn't want to share her home with other dogs, cats or babies and young children. Rio will give the right family a great deal of
affection and fun.

Marley

NOW REHOMED

Marley is a 4 year old neutered, white boy. He loves the company of people and cuddles on the sofa. He enjoys walks, something to chew on, especially antlers, playing fetch, pottering in the garden and loves paddling but is not keen on swimming.

Marley completed the KC Good Citizen Puppy Foundation award and has good basic training but this has lacked consistency. His new owner will be expected to continue his training, providing consistency and routines to enable him to succeed.

Marley doesn’t like unexpected visitors that take him by surprise. He has been asses by a behaviourist who reports that although Marley showed some signs of stress on arrival, barking and jumping up and appearing confused, he settled and was happy to be handled by her. He is used to attending kennels and is happy to be handled by the staff there.

Marley does resource guard and has nipped when him warning signals (Growling and freezing) were ignored. He guards things he can get in his mouth eg. toys, socks, shoes, remote controls and plant pots but not usually his food or antler chews. Marley will not be rehome with children because of this behaviour and his new owners must follow behaviourist recommendations.

Marley is fear aggressive towards other dogs since being bitten twice as a youngster and will lunge and bark at some dogs when on lead. His new owners need to be experienced in dealing with these behaviours and be prepared to work with a behaviourist to modify them.

Marley is a typical SWD, intelligent, active and full of potential. He requires an experienced and understanding adult only home that can provide him with consistency and training that will set him up for success. In the right home he will make a loyal and affectionate companion and is young enough to participate in any canine sport or activity.

Blu

NOW REHOMED

Blu is a 2 year old, neutered, brown boy. He is slightly over the breed standard size and quite leggy. Currently he is a little underweight. Blu has displayed some anxiety in his home recently; mainly shown as urinating in the house.

Blu was bred in Spain and lived there as a young dog. Sadly his owner died and her bereaved family offered him a home in the UK. They have now come to realise that an urban home is not the best environment for a dog used to Spanish rural living. They have made the difficult decision that he should be rehomed and he requires a rural home with opportunities for off lead exercise.Blu is non reactive with people, displaying the typical Spanish stand offish attitude, but shows no aggression and is happy to be handled after a few minutes. He has not had much interaction with children and because of this will only be rehomed to an adult only home.

He pulls on a lead and requires a lot of basic training having lived a fairly 'feral' life in Spain. He is reported to be reactive to some dogs, particularly those that are large and white. He didn’t react when other dogs barked on his arrival to the kennels. We will know more about this behaviour as the kennel staff get to know him and can observe his reactions.

Blu does enjoy socks, and eating them! He has needed an operation to remove one in the past

His new owners will need to commit to working with a trainer and, if necessary, behaviourist to address these training needs. As he is a young dog, he is likely to appreciate the opportunity to work at some kind of dog sport which will provide both exercise and mental stimulation.

Blu will make a lovely companion dog for someone who is prepared to put the effort in and work with him. He needs a rural or semi rural home with active people who can invest time in him to enable him to reach his potential.

ELLA

NOW REHOMED

Ella is a neutered girl of nearly three years old who is being rehomed due to a change in her family’s circumstances. Her breeders are supportive and wish to remain in contact with her adoptive family.
Ella a typical Spanish who can be aloof and disinterested with strangers but is affectionate with her family. She enjoys being cuddled and playing tug and retrieve games. She is used to living with a young teenager but will not be rehomed with younger children.

Ella has some basic training but her new owners will be required to commit to further training. She is house trained and is able to be left alone for up to four hours. She is used to sleeping in a crate at night.
Ella is quite anxious and can react to traffic, people and other dogs when out on walks. She will resource guard prized items and her new owners will need to continue training as advised by a behaviourist to address this. She needs an understanding owner who can work with her to build her confidence when outside the home in new environments and at the vets.

Ella is a young dog who is looking for an active family who can work with her to enable her to reach her full potential. She is currently overweight and her new owner will need to address this through diet and exercise. She would enjoy taking part in some kind of dog sport such as parkour, scentwork or rally which would help build her confidence and her connection with her new owner.
