What we do

All dogs needing re-homing and all upcoming events are advertised on our facebook page

We recognise that it is a very difficult decision to re-home a dog when the relationship between dog and owner has broken down, or life events mean their dog is no longer able to be cared for effectively.  We will support owners in this position and try to work with them to help them make the right decision for both them, and their dog.

Where possible we leave the dog in its original home until a new home is found. Occasionally we will place a dog in foster care if this is not possible.  We also have a partnership with two approved kennels which we can use if necessary.

To enable us to keep you fully up-to-date we share all details of dogs requiring rehoming on our facebook page and website, see on the link below for our facebook page.  Please keep a close eye on the dogs and their profiles on the page and contact us via our email address if you are interested in rehoming one.  We do not keep a list of potential new owners as people’s plans change rapidly and we have found it gets out of date.

Prior to re-homing all dogs will have a behavioural assessment which will be shared with prospective owners. We provide ongoing support to help the new owners manage and train their re-homed dog.

We will  provide as many details as possible of the dog’s likes and dislikes, experiences and training to give the dog the best possible chance of success in it’s new home.

Details of our fundraising events will also be advertised on our Facebook page - Spanish Water Dog Rescue UK, click on the link below.

Our major event every year is the popular ‘Whitfun’ weekend, which is held over the Whit bank holiday weekend in the Midlands.  This event provides an opportunity for owners and their dogs to meet other SWD enthusiasts and try a number of activities such as agility, man trailing, scent work and many other events.

We print our popular calendar every year with pictures of our wonderful dogs, and produce Christmas cards which showcase a dog who has been re-homed in that year.

Additionally we have some portable dog swimming pools and are keen to use these at dog events across the country. We have experienced staff who introduce dogs to the wonderful world of swimming.
